Name: Baudhanath (Nepal)
Description: Located at the northeastern outskirt of Kathmandu, it is one of the holiest Buddhist stupa of Nepal. The stupa is believed to entomb the remains of a sage. The most prominent symbol of the stupa is the all seeing eye of the Buddha representing compassion of Bodhisattva. The stupa is on the ancient trade route from Tibet and at present there are more than 40 Tibetan monasteries around the stupa. It is a UNESCO heritage site.
How the painting is constructed: Because the drawing of a Buddhist structure needs to be precise, an original photograph is taken as template and it is printed on the canvas so as to obtain the exact dimensions of the structure. It is then painted in oil medium. The effect of sun rays on the stupa is created to give the painting a beautiful look and ideal composition of a painting.
